Today started trying to find the source of the quote:
"Work like you don't need the money. Love like you've never been hurt. Dance like nobody's watching."
Wasn't as easy as I thought, as there are many subtle variations, each attributed to different people. Go figure. Best I can tell, Satchel Paige is as close to the original as one can discern.
Leroy Robert "Satchel" Paige was a baseball player starting back in 1926. You can read more at the wiki entry for Satchel Paige.
I best estimate him as the author based on the time frame and some of his other quotes:
"Age is a question of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter."
"My feet ain't got nothing to do with my nickname, but when folks get it in their heads that a feller's got big feet, soon the feet start looking big."
"Ain’t no man can avoid being born average, but there ain’t no man got to be common."
"Don't pray when it rains if you don't pray when the sun shines."
"You win a few, you lose a few. Some get rained out. But you got to dress for all of them."
